POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Respiratory Care, the Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the knowledge of patient responses, side effects and proper dosages used in respiratory care. Able to communicate effectively with Physicians, patients, other managers, the public and with Administration. Ability to teach/instruct, assess and reassess others. Able to recognize and report abuse and neglect in patients. Knowledge of pulmonary function values and knowledge of generally accepted practices in respiratory care as prescribed by the physician. Delivers, set-up, maintains and utilizes evaluators judgment from routine and non-routine prescription in utilization of respiratory care equipment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Uses knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and emergency procedures to provide safe and effective patient care. 2. Maintains strict infection control techniques at all times. 3. Provides inservices for peers and staff as assigned. 4. Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers. 5. Participate in Quality Improvement activities as assigned. 6. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: (list required and preferred separately) REQUIRED: Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from two (2) year college Registered by the NBRC or have 62 hours in applied sciences for approval to take registry exam by NBRC LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: (list required and preferred separately) REQUIRED: Registered by the NBRC; Graduate from an A.M.A. Respiratory Program Current Texas licensure for Respiratory Care Practitioner, BCLS Provider. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: (list required and preferred separately) PREFERRED: Hospital experience preferred.
