Sullivan International Group, Inc. is a science, engineering and advanced technology firm providing consulting services to commercial and government clients nationwide. We are seeking a junior to mid-level Staff Scientist / Staff Engineer. This position is in Environmental, Remediation, and Construction Division. The candidate will support activities on the US EPA Jacobsville Superfund Site in Evansville, IN, a site cleanup funded by The Federal Recovery Act. The candidate will also support other EPA, Navy, Air Force, and Army Corps Projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ability to lead or be part of a field team and conduct investigation and/or oversight projects with minimal support from remote technical and project management staff.

  2. Responsible for field sampling including installing, developing and sampling monitoring wells; logging and collection of soil samples; drum and waste sampling; using Forms II Lite software to complete chain of custody forms.

  3. Provide field oversight for sampling, responses, and remedial activities by others.

  4. Writing and supporting the writing of reports, including field oversight documentation reports, field reports, writing health and safety plans, quality assurance project plans, field sampling plans, data management plans, remedial investigation reports and feasibility studies.

Skills:

  1. Ability to follow direction and work independently.

  2. Mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Microsoft Access a plus.

  3. Certification of or ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER and DOT HAZMAT trainings (or refresher courses).

  4. Experience with AutoCAD, Micro Station, GIS, and database programs a plus.

  5. Experience under a RAC or other Federal programs a definite plus.

  6. Good organizational and verbal communication skills.

Experience:

  1. B.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Biology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related degree.

  2. 2 – 4 years experience, including field experience similar to the duties and responsibilities.

  3. Excellent verbal and writing skills; fluent in English.

  4. Must have a valid drivers license.

Other requirements: Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
