
Medical Assistant w/ Limited x-ray

Summary: We are looking for an experienced back-office medical assistant with
limited x-ray to work in our Same Day Services clinic. Will work
approximately 30 hrs/wk, primarily eves and weekends.
• Successful
completion of an accredited medical assistant program or comparable
education. Must be able to provide official transcripts as condition of
employment.
• Current limited x-ray education from accredited
medical assistant program. Must possess ability to perform simple
radiological procedures without supervision.
• Meets requirements for certification according to RCW 18.135, State of Washington, and Department of Health.
• One or more years experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Current Washington State, Healthcare Providers CPR certification
Hours: M-F 5p-8p and Sat/Sun 8:30a-5:30p

We also have a 401K plan with profit sharing. Reduced benefits available for those working 20+ hours per week. On call positions are not benefit eligible.
Description: Maintains and enhances the health and well being of the patient by
participating in the team effort of the individual quadrant by
facilitating patient flow, assisting with procedures, telephone triage
and follow-up diagnostic procedures.
I. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Rooming Patients
Coordinate
patient flow into exam rooms for the providers, gather pertinent data
from patient and complete vital data flow sheet.
• Take vitals and document completely and accurately.
• Describe chief complaint accurately, conduct further assessment according to individual physician/provider expectation.
•
Update patient’s chart and verify demographic information. Update
medications, allergies, health maintenance system at time patient is
roomed.
• Prepare patient and instrumentation appropriate to exam. Instruct patient on disrobing.
• Prepare equipment, instruments and supplies in room for provider exam.
• Maintain patient flow. Have patient in the room within five (5) minutes of known vacancy.
• Evaluate needs of walk-in patients within 10 minutes of known arrival.
Assisting Physicians
• Be available/accessible to assist provider with patient flow of information according to clinic policy and procedures.
Give patients educational material and instructions.
Gather and communicate laboratory results to patients as directed by provider.
Schedule specialist appointments in a timely manner.
Share medical information only at the direction of the provider and document appropriately.
• Maintain “tickler file” for diagnostic test results.

Organize patient test results or physician/ provider review, according
to quadrant standards and follow through with appropriate patient
notification as directed by the provider.
• For walk-in patients,
perform blood pressure checks, respond to Rx questions, clarify patient
instructions under the direction of provider.
• Facilitate the processing of prescriptions, document in medical record per Clinic protocol, as directed by provider.
Call in new prescriptions, document in medical record per Clinic protocol, as directed by provider.
Fax refill approval per policy and procedure.
LIMITED X-RAY
• Explain procedure to patient and check to assure understanding.
• Assist with patient in preparing for exam (i.e. positioning, getting onto table).
•
Follow patient protocols defined by department providers and outlined
in department to provide consistent and high quality patient care.
• Provide reassurance and support to patient throughout procedure.
• Assure understanding of discharge instructions before patient leaves care area.
• Identify patient concerns and potential risks in a timely manner.
• Is technically proficient in basic understanding of equipment function and is able to trouble shoot.

Assure test quality and take corrective action where appropriate. This
