Controller
Our client is seeking a Controller to become a key member of the management team. Paid relocation to Southern California is available. We’re looking for an individual with experience building and leading a top quality finance/accounting team. Candidate should have experience as a controller or senior finance manager at a publicly traded company. IPO experience a plus. Candidate should have strong analytical and problem solving skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a passion to work in a hard-working, team oriented, fast paced environment. The right candidate will be aligned with the work philosophy and habits of the executive team and have the ability to wear multiple hats and work well with others. The position will report to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities include:
· Be responsible for the management, direction, and operation of all accounting related activities including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, insurance, and internal controls;
· Be responsible for the management, direction, and operation of all human resource related activities including benefit administration, and insurance;
· Provide leadership and manage financial activities, including budgeting, planning & reporting, cost & general accounting operations, audit, tax, and treasury functions to support business operations;
· Ensure compliance with corporate policies and generally accepted accounting principles;
· Maintain the integrity of the financial records of multiple corporate entities;
· Recommend and implement benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments.
· Maintain/establish accounting policies and procedures;
· Manage the month-end closing process to ensure accuracy and timeliness;
· Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management/Board reporting package;
· Provide internal and external financial reports covering sales, budgets, cash activities and other financial results;
· Plan and direct the development, implementation and operation of accounting systems and procedures to provide accurate and timely information;
· Oversee the preparation of income tax return and filing by the company’s outside accountants and organize supporting schedules for tax returns;
· Act as liaison between company and outside accountants and tax agencies;
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED:
· Certified Public Accountant
· Degree in Accounting or related field
· Minimum 5 years of accounting experience with at least 3 in a relevant role
· Experience with a publicly traded company
· Experience with a big 4 audit firm
· Experience building accounting/finance teams
· Experience with ERP systems
