• Pay opportunity is: $26.73 - $42.72/hr (DOE)
• Up to $5,000 in relocation reimbursement*

• Nurse to patient ratio: 1:1
• Annual average patients/cases: 5500
• Number of professionals in unit: 22
• Number of support staff: 14 (CNAs, Techs, Surgery Orderly and Scrub techs)
• Type of equipment/software used: Primarily Synthes/ Cerner
• Most common types of treatment or procedures:
• Most frequent: arthroscopic knee surgery
• Highest volume: orthopedic procedures.
• Surgical procedures are categorized as: general surgery, podiatry, gynecologic, ophthalmology, ENT, oral and dental, orthopedics, plastic, thoracic, vascular, urologic and cranial

• Collects patient health data, assesses health problems and needs, develops and implements nursing care plans; maintains medical records; reports abnormal lab values, if applicable.
• Confirms informed consent granted for planned procedure and answers patient questions regarding care
• Assists patients in formulating decisions affecting patient care, as appropriate
• Collaborates with the health care team – physician, ORT, others RN’s and anesthesiologists

In the Operating Room

• Uses, sterilizes, maintains, reprocesses instruments and supplies
• Carries out some of the following:
• Maintain operative records
• Serves as Circulating RN or Scrubbing RN - working knowledge of procedure performed, necessary instrumentation and supplies

Post-Operation

• Assesses patient and assists in safe transport of patient to Post Anesthesia Care Unit
• Reports patient’s pre/inter/post operative condition to PACU RN

• A current valid Alaska RN license with a current BLS certification
• Behavior and answers to role related questions demonstrate experience and preparation for the role
• Must meet general RN and unit specific competency requirements within established timeframes.
Previous nursing experience preferred
Prior surgery or critical care experience preferred
Must be able to take call (including nights and weekends)
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). Must be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats
