Experience in design department of home decor or giftware company a definite plus!



Responsible for generating creative product concepts, mechanical drawings, and overseeing product sample development; the objective being to support the strategic plans and objectives of the Product Marketing and Development group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Design Supervisor to establish PartyLite product design strategy.
  • Identify new product opportunities beyond the scope of normal seasonal program development.
  • Lead new and out of category product design development working with cross functional teams.
  • Solve complex product problems with effective solutions that solve the business’s needs.
  • Lead and participate in design research to harvest ideas based on consumer needs and validate designs.
  • Develop and present the overall color plan for catalog programs.
  • Research, identify, and interpret worldwide market trends in design, décor, and color. Participate actively in appropriate professional organizations.
  • Prepare and present data that supports trend analysis. (Boards, Power Point, etc.)
  • Create unique and innovative products that reflect the latest trends and support Marketing objectives.
  • Visually and verbally communicate and present product concepts for enriching and expanding existing product lines.
  • Prepare technical drawings of product designs.
  • Maintain design timeline that supports the department deliverables and schedules.
  • Participate in product brainstorm sessions.
  • Critique manufacturers product samples as required.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (BA, BFA) from four-year college or university; or equivalent in Product Design or related field, and five to seven years’ progressive design experience in one or more of the following environments; or, the equivalent combination of training and relevant business experience:

  • The direct selling industry.
  • A manufacturer or marketer of home décor or gift products.
  • A large company outside of the direct selling industry that has its own Creative or Design department. (I.e. Disney, Hallmark Gifts, Midwest Importers, Enesco, etc.)
  • A freelance designer with experience in taking concepts to market utilizing various media and manufacturing methods.
  • Demonstrated expertise on MAC based software, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Word.

· A keen sense of design and color.

· Excellent concept drawing skills.

· Strong problem solving skills.

· Must be detail oriented. The success of great design is in the details.

· Must be a self-starter.

· Must be a team player.

· Strong organizational skills.

· Ability to manage time and deliver assignments on schedule.

· Ability to adjust to changing schedule and assignment priorities.

· Ability to manage several projects concurrently.

· Must have a general understanding of various manufacturing processes as they relate to PartyLite products.

· Strong written and oral communication skills.
