Software Engineer - Networking Systems; full life-cycle

BBN Technologies' Cyber Security Business Unit performs research, development, and deployment of information security technologies and provides assured network solutions to complex collaborative operations. We are addressing some of the hardest challenges in computer and network security. Our world-class team of researchers and developers is constantly tackling problems that are considered "too challenging" for today's commercial markets. Members of our team perform all functions of the software development life cycle, from brainstorming and system design through testing and delivery. And we have a lot of fun doing it!

Our Columbia, MD office is currently seeking a qualified Software Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in software design, coding, documentation, and testing on the System Design and Prototype Development phase of DARPA's National Cyber Range (NCR) program.

Required Qualifications:
* Excellent programming skills (particularly C/C++).
* Extensive experience in designing and developing complex software systems, and performing system test and system integration.
* An understanding of large-scale problem solving and system engineering methods and procedures.
* Mastery of tools and techniques to develop software-based systems such as configuration management, bug tracking, and automated build/test.
* Proficiency in standard software documentation techniques such as flow charts, sequence diagrams, context diagrams and state diagrams.
* A track record of exceeding customer and stakeholder expectations.

Desired Qualifications:
* Assembly, Java, Perl, Python.
* Experience with Emulab and/or OPNET toolsets.
* Low-level systems development (embedded or real-time), device drivers, OS (kernel) internals, or BIOS development.
* Networking essentials, particularly TCP/IP.
* Security-related disciplines, including: vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection, virtual private networks (VPNs), cryptography, firewalls, and penetration testing.
* Familiarity with CMMI or CMMI-like software development processes.

Minimum Education:
* BS, MS in Computer Science or other relevant technical field

Minimum Experience:
* 2-4 years relevant work experience depending on degree.
* Active Secret is required; TS clearance is desirable.
