This position is a system testing position working on a wide variety of desktop and portable computer systems, peripherals and software products. Individual will work as part of a team of engineers and technicians in the validation of new computer software and hardware, and updates to existing systems. Testing will include verification of product behavior to specifications, verification of product usability and testing of customer usage scenarios driven by analysis of customer expectations and requirements.

Responsibilities include: technical direction of 5-7 test technicians, test planning, creation of test plans, creation and execution of test cases, exploratory testing, defect reporting and regression of fixes. The individual will work with development to drive defects to closure; perform system setup, creation and execution of automated tests, and a proven ability to solve test problems in complex engineering environments.

The candidate must have hands-on experience and demonstrated enthusiasm with installing and trouble-shooting desktop and portable computer software and systems, operating systems and peripherals. The candidate must be knowledgeable in the use of computer systems in a business environment, and the use of typical peripherals and software applications. The candidate must also demonstrate knowledge and understanding of networking, and systems management software. Knowledge of client virtualization and remote desktop software is strongly preferred.

The candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of software testing methodologies and experience with Agile development is preferred.

The candidate must have demonstrated ability in writing test plans and creating and executing test cases. The candidate must understand the development life cycle and understand the different types of testing performed at different stages of product maturity. The candidate must show experience creating entrance and exit criteria for various test phases. The candidate must have proven experience judging the product quality and release readiness (including negotiating with development teams) and be able to demonstrate the ability to be flexible while maintaining rigor in the test process. The candidate must have an understanding of computer architecture, be able to perform defect isolation and may have white box trouble shooting skills, including working in a basic debugging environment.

The candidate may have programming skills enabling them to script and create test suites.

The candidate must have proven effective oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work with little supervision.

Education:

B.S. CS, EE, CIS, MIS or equivalent work experience. MCE, A+ or other relevant industry certifications a plus. M.S. Preferred

Years of Industry Experience:

10+ years testing of computer systems and software..
