General Summary: The Medical Assistant 2 works closely with physicians, midwives, nurses and other non-physician staff members. Responsibilities include: managing the workflow between patients and their physician/providers, assisting physician/providers with medical procedures, taking vital signs, verifying patient information, completing lab forms, completing medical documentation, scheduling appointments, and stocking and cleaning exam rooms. St. Vincent Prenatal Clinic is a mission clinic that provides health care for uninsured patients only. Spanish is the primary language nearly 95% of the clinic's patient population. The clinic is fast paced and cares for high acuity patients. This position supports both the Prenatal Clinic and the GYN Resident Clinic with both telephone and face-to-face patient encounters.
Required: High School or GED equivalent, current BLS. Current Medical Assistant Certification through nationally recognized program such as AAMA; One year of experience as a medical assistant, customer service experience, including phone triage. Experience using PC and applicable software including word processing. Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Preferred: Minimum one year of MA experience working in a clinic that provides OB/GYN services. Experience using electronic medical records.
Shift: On-call Day Shift, 16-20 hrs/wk, primarily Tuesday/Wednesday, additional hours as needed.
