Kforce is seeking an Infrastructure Cabling Engineer for a Silver Spring client. They are looking for an individual that has experience in calculating electrical and mechanical loads for IT rooms and is familiar with the terms associated with both. This position will be required to travel and cover multiple service areas and sites throughout Maryland and Virginia area as well and Georgia and Ohio. We prefer someone who is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer. This position requires an individual who is a self starter and can perform the job on a daily basis without direction from others.

This position must have three years of experience in fiber and copper cable design. Candidates must have familiarity with different categories of copper cabling, protocols, and applications supported by each. This Cable Technician must be able to distinguish between the different types of fiber optic cabling and know the most common ways to tell the difference. The selected individual must have basic knowledge of wireless LAN and VoIP Voice over Internet Protocol technologies. Candidates must have experience in inside and outside plant cabling. Individuals must have the ability to work in Visio and AutoCad to create layouts of equipment rooms, back boards, and racks. The Cable Technician must be able to read blue prints and be familiar with common architectural and electrical symbols.

This position pays 34.00 hourly
