Phoenix House seeks a Food Services Manager to oversee and supervise the kitchen and dining facilities , food budget and food supplies for a 300 bed residential facility.

Phoenix House is the nation’s leading non-profit substance abuse services provider and offers substance abuse services to the Dallas, Austin and the Houston/Galveston Bay communities that offer a continuum of care including prevention education, residential and outpatient treatment, aftercare and family support services. Phoenix House is now staffing for its adult residential treatment facility in Wilmer , Texas .

Primary duties include:

  • Plans and directs all food services for residential facility
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships
  • Provides direct supervision of other cooks and/or helpers. Responsibility includes adequate coverage of cooks/helpers for meal preparation as scheduled and the cooks/helpers work schedule.
  • Train staff and kitchen helpers in proper food handling procedures.
  • Responsible for the supervision of preparing at least 3 meals and snacks according to the approved menu. Follow policy and procedure when preparing, cooking and serving meals according to Phoenix House policy and procedures, which reflect the minimum expectations according to the health department, code.
  • Responsible for the oversight of maintaining permits and inspections including food handler permit/s for self and other kitchen help, kitchen inspections, health department inspections, fire department inspections and documentation of kitchen equipment checks and verification in accordance with rules and regulations.
  • Routinely inspects and ensures all equipment is in good repair.
  • Partner with dietician to ensure that menu is healthy and appropriate to the clients needs.
  • Plan and oversee the development of specialized menus’ for client dietary needs or special events.
  • Assist with supervision of clients in the dining room and kitchen.
  • Establish processes for ensuring all food items are of quality content and ensure proper rotation of food items.

Qualifications - Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Associates in culinary arts or related field required.
  • Three years experience in the supervision of a institutional food service organization, private assisted living, resort or a high volume non-fast food restaurant providing at least 400 meals daily
  • Food Handlers Certificate required
  • Strong customer service focus required
  • Proficiency in MS Office and web-based programs are preferred

· Ability to plan and collaborate with internal and external partners

· Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail

· Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills

· Ability to use effective leadership skills in daily interactions, planning and delegation of duties

· Valid Texas driver’s license required
