Product Designer: Dart Container

Description : The Product Designer c arries out design assignments of a routine to moderately complex nature with initiative and independent judgment. This includes such work as: 1) preparing sketches or 3-D finished models from verbal or written instructions on product designs and prototype tooling; 2) participating in the development of original designs or adaptations requiring specialized experience; and 3) providing support for prototyping and implementation of the product through commercialization. The Product Designer possesses a high degree of creativity and applies this to design work and problem solving, and partners with Marketing and Sales to facilitate a rapid response to requests for design and both rapid and traditional prototypes.

Essential Functions:

1. Participate in the conceptualization and design of Dart products

2. Participate in the fabrication, coordination, and forming of prototypes

3. Coordinate the work of Drafters, Technicians, Specialists, and others who are assigned to your projects

4. Utilize measuring instruments, interpret and analyze data

5. Communicate project requirements to internal and external manufacturing facilities

6. Provide support services for the communication of design intent for both 3-D design work, prototypes, and prototype cavities

7. Routinely report on assigned projects, including project hours, costs, justifications, and progress updates

8. Recognize and apply efficiency improvements to product designs and prototyping efforts

9. Review the fabrication and assembly of new and rework prototype cavities from our vendors

10. Assist CQA with their prototype review and provide recommendations for design modifications and enhancements

11. Generate 3-D CAD models of new products, prototypes, and prototype tooling

12. Participate in problem identification and definition of Dart products, design, and prototype tooling

13. Document and improve current process and develop new processes and materials

14. Fully understand and apply GD&T methodologies

15. Check and review product design concepts and drawings

Requirements and Qualifications:

· Requires an Associate’s degree in Engineering, CAD, Design, or related field. Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CAD, Design, or related field.

· Requires at least one year of product design and development experience. Prefer three or more years.

· Requires at least one year of managing technical projects. Prefer three or more years.

· Requires at least one year providing design support services. Prefer two or more years.

· Requires at least one year of project reporting experience. Prefer two or more years.

· Requires at least two years of 3-D CAD experience. Prefer four or more years.

· Requires at least two years analyzing existing product designs and proposing modifications and solutions. Prefer four or more years.

· Requires at least one year of experience with hand and mechanical measuring systems. Prefer three or more years.

· Requires at least one year of experience with MS Office Suite with emphasis on higher Excel functions. Prefer three or more years.

· Requires the understanding and application of trigonometry and calculus

· Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Requires a valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle report

· Requires the ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time

· Prefer UGNX version 6 experience
