Job Description:
Position Summary:

Planet Green, the first-ever 24-hour television network dedicated solely to green lifestyle programming will air in 2008.

The network, brought to you by Discovery Communications, will feature entertaining, authentic and quality content in categories ranging from eco-design and architecture to organic food.
The Producer, On-Air Marketing will be responsible for writing and producing promotion and marketing projects for the Network.

Responsibilities:

1. Concept, write and produce advertising and promotion for Planet Green.
2. Produce Special Projects: i.e. program opens, behind-the-scenes, programming interstitials.
3. Write and produce internal projects: i.e. departmental presentation tapes, marketing and ad sales tapes, Programming Presentation Day reels.
4. Responsible for the entire production process.
5. Determine the specific production needs.
6. Create production schedules and budgets.
7. Responsible for acquisition of stock footage and/or shooting additional footage.
8. Write and/or evaluate scripts.
9. Direct talent and supervise narration sessions.
10. Produce original music and graphics.
11. Perform and or supervise off-line edit sessions.
12. Contract with outside facilities and vendor services.
13. Supervise on-line edit sessions.

Requirements:

* A Bachelor's degree or higher in Video/Film Production or related field is preferred.
* A minimum of four years experience writing and producing promotion and marketing projects for broadcast or cable television.
* Hands-on experience with Avid Media Composer edit systems is a plus.
* A strong interest and background in broadcast design is highly desirable and a well-rounded and up-to-date knowledge of postproduction tools and the postproduction process are essential.
* Proven writing and producing skills.
* Must be well organized, capable of handling several projects simultaneously, have the ability to work independently and possess excellent intrapersonal skills.
* Must display a commitment to excellence and to on-going education in video/film production and to the mastery of his/her craft.
* Windows 2000, Word, Excel and Lotus Notes experience is highly desirable.
* Interest or experience in green living is a plus. Passion about the environment is a must.
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
