Oncology Systems Administrator: Carle Clinic Association

Job Summary: Responsible for coordinating technical aspects and overseeing the implementation and ongoing support of a Medical and Radiation Oncology Electronic Medical Record. Activities would include but not be limited to project leadership, development of reports using Crystal Reports, template creation within the application and system administration. Will be responsible for overseeing the system to include assessing enhancement and modification requirements of the EMR to meet the changing needs of the Oncology Department working in collaboration with IT, Oncology Staff and physicians. Additional responsibilities include managing and delegating EMR System maintenance which includes testing and implementation of on-going system patches, fixes, and upgrades.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a Clinical Health Care or Information Technology related field of study; Associate’s degree with 5 years experience in IT or Health Care related field and 2 years management experience is a valid substitution for academic achievement.

Experience: Three years experience in Information Technology or Clinical Health Care related field. A strong focus in Medical Oncology is preferred; Nursing experience preferred.

Other Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of Medical and Radiation Oncology department processes/workflow and/or Oncology Information Systems. Has practical methodological experience in change management, project management, UAT, WIT, Integrated Testing, growth and extensibility planning, and in managing real time imaging or clinical systems. Effective communication skills, ability to function well in stressful situations, ability to function well as part of a team required. Requires strong analytical and technical skills to resolve routine to complex problems by following departmental procedures with minimal guidance and supervision. Experience using Crystal Reports is preferred, but not required. Experience with Varian’s Electronic Medical Record preferred but demonstrated comparable experience with other electronic medical records acceptable. Managerial experience; will supervise one employee. Strong understanding of data structure and ability to perform data modeling.
