Description: Emerson, a global manufacturer of high-quality products, systems and services for commercial, industrial and consumer markets is seeking a Senior Counsel, Compliance Practice Group. This position will assist in managing and providing legal support for international trade, antitrust and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act compliance programs on a world-wide basis: develop, implement and oversee the execution of such programs and provide legal support to Emerson’s world-wide logistics efforts.
Basic Responsibilities and Objectives Include: · Manage Emerson’s Corporate trade compliance activities and personnel globally and assist in developing, implementing and monitoring Emerson’s world-wide International Trade Compliance Program. · Manage the development of U.S. Corporate training and support in areas of International Trade, including U.S. and local export compliance, U.S. and local customs compliance, U.S. anti-boycott compliance, U.S. embargoed countries and denied parties compliance, record retention requirements, marking compliance and product and technology classification. · Keep apprised of changes in the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and U.S. and local international trade and antitrust rules and regulations and assist in the development of communication procedures to keep Divisions informed of such changes in an efficient and effective manner. · Assist in developing and implementing audit and assist programs to measure and enhance company-wide compliance with the (i) Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, (ii) U.S. and local international trade rules and regulations, and (iii) U.S. and local antitrust rules and regulations. Develop improvements to such programs as a result of such audit and assist programs. · Assist with internal investigations and with responses to government inquiries involving international trade, antitrust and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act under the direction of the Vice President, Associate General Counsel & Assistant Secretary. · Provide Divisions with legal guidance on issues involving international trade, logistics, antitrust and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. · Assist in developing and implementing antitrust compliance programs.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each basic responsibility satisfactorily and meet education and experience requirements.
Education and Experience: · Juris Doctorate; a licensed attorney required. · MBA preferred · 5-10 years trade compliance, antitrust or similar experience as a lawyer with a corporation or law firm. · Demonstrates excellence in leading and working with other professionals such as attorneys, trade professionals and paralegals. · Demonstrates leadership skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
