Description: Perform Information Technology (IT) engineering and special studies related to advancements in IT.
Duties include:
1) Perform special studies as requested to address IT related issues and concerns associated with the Strategic Systems Business Area. Research and provide recommendations on IT best practices and procedures.
a.Research and monitor advancements in computing, storage, networking and communications, security and encryption technologies with a focus on recommending solutions that provide strategic long-term advantages and cost savings.
b.Design IT system prototypes and create documentation to support prototype implementation. Work with system administrators, data and security managers to develop processes for project implementation efforts.
2)Create and manage project plans associated with the engineering tasks and special studies performed. Provide oral presentations and written reports to APL management and sponsors on project status, findings and results.
3)Provide leadership with integrating Navy, DoD and DISA DIACAP policies and practices within supported IT networks and infrastructures.
a.Lead technical, procedural and/or policy discussions related to IT and IA special studies.
b. Apply the latest Navy, DoD and DISA policies such as the DIACAP Certification and Accreditation processes to IT special studies as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Computer Science or Information Technology and 5-7 years relevant experience. Excellent listening, written and oral communications, and organizational skills
Ability to lead teams in addressing Information Technology issues
One to three years experience in DOD Computer Security to include IA practices and procedures
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
Desired:
Master of Science in Computer Science or a related technical field
Project leadership experience related to advanced IT studies and implementations
Experience in support of the Navys Strategic Systems Programs.
