Tri-State’s power is generated through a combination of owned baseload and peaking power plants that use coal and natural gas as their primary fuels, supplemented by purchased power, federal hydroelectricity allocations and renewable resource technologies. Do all transmission line construction and maintenance work assigned in accordance with RUS specifications or as indicated by the engineer while training and supervising others assigned to work with him/her.

  • High school graduate or equivalent. High school level math and/or electrical training desired.

  • Six years of appropriate experience including at least two years as a Journey Level or Lead Lineman or have acceptable equivalent experience.

  • Must be willing to operate and work from aerial trucks up to 110 feet. Must be able to climb wooden and steel structures up to 300 feet.

  • Have thorough knowledge of the layout and characteristics of electrical transmission lines in area.

  • Be capable of applying artificial respiration on or off ground and be able to render practical first aid.

  • Must be able to meet all Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) requirements.

  • Must develop and maintain a comfortable level of computer skills in the MS Windows environment using MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Access. Computer usage will include INDUS and Passport.

  • Be willing and able to work extra and irregular hours as the utility needs may require, and willing to work under unusual or special working conditions; storms, extreme temperatures and winds, darkness, etc.

  • Possess a considerable degree of skill to perform work by following standard methods of procedure as well as the ability to plan and perform a sequence of operations or duties when standards or recognized operations methods are inapplicable or are not available.

  • Must reside within a 60 minute response time to the base location.

  • Overnight travel required (85 percent).
