Detailed Job Description
Individual will provide configuration expertise within the SAP MM module to include responsibilities with MRO Material Master, Purchasing, Inventory Management, and Invoice Verification. Individual must have in-depth functional knowledge of the MM module and how it relates across system functionality. Must be able to convert business requirements into technical design documentation for ABAP, BW, and enterprise integration developers.
Responsibilities
Consults, primarily with one functional area, in the business process design of long-chain processes. The objective is to support common global processes utilizing as much standard SAP capability as possible.
Provides deep configuration knowledge within multiple functionally related SAP modules in active support of the business process design effort.
Operates at both a strategic and tactical level
Has a network of SAP experts at other companies or with SAP to obtain advice on designs and resolutions to problems
Leads cross training for areas of responsibility
Designs complex long-chain transaction processes, interfaces, and reports with minimal direction from Configuration Owners. Heavy interactive design with end users.
Performs prototyping of new functionality. Provides design direction to Developers for components of the design or prototypes.
Determine changes and create new profiles that occur due to changes in functionality.
Develops detailed and complete functional/technical specifications within the R/3 system. Works with the ABAP or other developers to complete detailed specifications.
Performs complex configuration for short and long chain transaction processes, reports, interfaces utilizing mainly standard SAP functionality but could include some custom ABAP programming.
Quickly and effectively configures based on specifications as provided by business contacts and/or IT resources. Recognizes problems or issues with configuration specifications and resolves with business contacts prior to introducing configuration into Development environment.
Tests own transports, assists Business resources in execution of tests. Performs unit testing of complex configuration, BW development, and ABAP programs in the DEV environment. Works with developers from multiple teams to define and perform long-chain tests in the development environment. Completes detailed test plans for interfaces, ABAP and Bw.
Resolves complex production problems.
Assist the business in the development of conversion databases and data tables
Presents functionality overviews to end users and middle management.
Works in conjunction with Config Owner to actively resolve business issues and recommends useful configuration, typically in a single functional area based on specific functional experience
Performs evaluations of new SAP functionality and upgrades to existing functionality within their area of responsibility.
Assists with developing detail cost estimates for implementing new functionality.
Consulting skills are limited to a specific functional area.
Participates on integration review teams. Is fully aware of integration points between his/her functional area and others. Consider Interaction and Integration of configuration design solutions.
Create general ABAP specs and can debug ABAP code
Create general BW specs and can use the tool
REQUIREMENTS
• SAP 4.6C or higher
• ABAP
• Material Master Data conversion experience
• Chemical Industry Experience (preferred)
• ERP IT Standards
• Bachelors Degree in IT or related field
