Neuroscience District Manager, Specialty Pharmaceutical District Manager



We are currently conducting a confidential search for a Neuroscience Specialty District Manager.

Posiiton Summary

To attain sales and profit plan objectives for an assigned District. This requires the ability to translate marketing plans and strategies into effective sales tactics to be carried out by the District's sales representatives. The position also requires the ability to recruit, hire, train and develop representatives to meet sales objectives. Ability to collaborate with internal functional teams, customers, and partners is critical.

Specific Duties
The specific duties assigned to the Neuroscience Specialty District Manager are as follow:

  • Attain the assigned sales objectives for the District and ensure achievement of designated goals for sales calls.
  • Operate District within the assigned expense budget.
  • Ensure effective execution of the tactical and operational segments of the sales plans for all marketed products by the assigned representative staff.
  • Execute the District deployment plans, including recruiting, hiring, training, and development.

  • Coordinate with alliance partner sales management team within district geography.
  • Key account management and coordination along with representative development in this environment.
  • Represent the company before selected customers (e.g. wholesalers, buying groups, etc.) acting as liaison on matters of bids, pricing, returns, etc. where appropriate.
  • Coordinate staffing of exhibits and connections occurring within the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain a high level of morale and proficiency among employees reporting to this position.
  • Monitors individual operating budgets and ensures team operates within budget.
  • Ensure full and complete compliance of all selling activities within the area of responsibility to company standards and to all state and federal regulations.
  • Complies with the letter and spirit of all State and Federal laws, regulations, and guidelines as well as PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals and company standards and policies relating to all promotional activities.
  • Coach representatives on core competencies and partner with representatives on development activities.
  • Develop neuroscience representative talent pool for higher levels of responsibility.
  • Differentiate performance, provide feedback, and proactively address performance issues.
  • Plan and facilitate district meetings and participate in training, POA, and national meetings as required.
  • Leverages strong analytical skills to identify opportunities and facilitate effective targeting and business planning.

Education and Special Skills

A minimum of a BA/BS degree is required. A working knowledge of sales force management and controls in the pharmaceutical industry is necessary. Previous experience with management systems is necessary. Experience in start-up or expansion sales forces is beneficial.

Experience

Six or more years experience in the pharmaceutical industry is required. Pharmaceutical sales management strongly preferred. Managing a neuroscience sales unit for two years is strongly preferred for outside candidates. Experience in a variety of functional areas (e.g. Sales Training, Sales Operations, Marketing, etc.) is desirable.
