Director, Business Development (cGMP)-US or Europe

Description

Director will secure and retain business for PPD through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers at existing and new pharmaceutical sponsors. Director will position PPD as a primary or preferred provider for all pharmaceutical development work to be outsourced. Director will liaise between sponsor and company on all business development activities and requirements.

***WILL CONSIDER HOME-OFFICE BASED EMPLOYEES ANYWHERE IN NORTH AMERICA or EUROPE***

Director will obtain firm project/task commitments that will meet or exceed authorization targets that will be established annually by the corporation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in science or business, or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
  • Minimum of five years in CRO sales, specifically in the cGMP Laboratory Services arena. Will consider candidates with less sales experience but heavier scientific/lab experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Individual should have proven track record at mid and high level contacts, as well as formal sales training.
  • Director should have the ability to manage and fully integrate with Operations, Finance, Bids & Contracts and Marketing, and follow-up to expand relationships and business opportunities.
  • Director should have the ability to identify and develop sales leads, professionally present capabilities, manage the sales process through close and handle all aspects of contract negotiations.
  • Director should possess computer skills to handle sales automation systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Scientific, and/or sales or marketing background with concentration in pharmaceutical/biotech area helpful
