Application Development Specialist: TAC Worldwide

Objective

Provide scripting expertise including design to specification, in support of the PKI Desktop simplification.

Research and Scripting will be needed

• To provide an automated facility to back up PC users keystore (XP OS),
• Provide testing and packaging expertise
• Refine scripting to check state of encryption on user PCs
• Provide optimum scripting for user choice in decryption of data encrypted with EFS or self signed certificates in preparation for DG content based encryption.

Background:

The client implemented EFS encryption on selected folders starting in 2004 in order to protect data in the event of a stolen PC. Full Disk Encryption has now been rolled out to Client assets and provides enhancements to this protection. They are halting EFS rollouts so that turnover will help eliminate some of the decryption needs that must proceed a Digital Guardian roll out of content based encryption services, and email at the source encryption. Client will need to provide key backup services and decryption services to its users in order to move forward with implementation of the next technologies.

Deliverables:

• Automated process for back up of end user encryption certificates for recovery use (includes EFS and self issued certificates).
• Package for support to implement the backup process
• Documentation on script and process
• Automated decryption script for decrypting EFS encrypted files which includes, a check process to verify what files are encrypted with EFS, verifies Full Disk Encryption is active, verifies certificates have been backed up, decrypts EFS encrypted files. The script OR its packaging should allow for user choice in how and when the decryption occurs
• Package for support to implement the decrypt process
• Documentation on the all the scripts and processes

Education:

• Advanced knowledge of EFS (Encrypted File System)
• Advanced knowledge of visual basic scripting, and other windows based scripting mechanisms
• Advanced knowledge of software packaging in order to coordinate and collaborate with Client Marimba and Microsoft Software Distribution packaging teams
• knowledge and understanding of self signed PKI certificates, as well as certificate storage on the workstation in a PKI environment using EFS
• Previous experience writing certificate backup scripts
