Senior Die Design Engineer
We are currently seeking an experienced Die Designer with a solid background of designing precision dies for the connector industry to fill an open position with our company as our Senior Die Design Engineer for our Stamping Department.
Extensive knowledge and experience working with:
- Thin gage .002” to .030” - Carbide progressive dies - 10-20 stations - Bruderer 4-post High Speed Presses - Speeds of 600-1000 strokes per minute - Stamping Brilliant Copper, Phosphorus Bronze, 70/30 Brass, Stainless Steel, Olin 194, Gold, and other precious and non-ferrous metals - Machining, stamping, soldering, plating and injection molding
Position Overview
This position will oversee the Stamping Department Engineering team and collaborate with our Manufacturing and Assembly staff, Process Engineers, Quality Assurance Manager and customers. The Senior Die Design Engineer is primarily responsible for developing and/or modifying the total production process to reduce manufacturing costs while ensuring on-time delivery of the highest quality parts for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Engineering and design responsibility to create and modify concepts and detailed designs - Create 2-D & 3-D models, drawings, and release documentation - Perform tolerance stack-up analysis, check layouts and other appropriate engineering analysis - Develop and maintain DFMEA and DVP&R documentation - Recommend process or method changes to improve the design process (work flow, tool selection, engineering analysis, etc.) - Operations support to include assisting suppliers and manufacturing plant on technical issues - Perform product changes and other duties and responsibilities as assigned - Interface with Manufacturing, Assembly, Process Engineers, and QC staff at all levels - Communicate and collaborate with customers regularly - Participate in cross-functional teams to achieve the technical, individual, and business objectives - Apply advanced and/or new techniques to solve problems having multiple variables - Interact with team members and peers to anticipate and resolve day to day issues and competing priorities - Evaluate technical approaches; select and implements the most cost-effective technical solution - Independently evaluate problems or opportunities, identify solutions and apply standard engineering analysis tools to evaluate and select solutions
Qualifications
- Direct experience working with the engineering and manufacturing of connectors/cables for all industries - Thorough understanding and experience working with High-Speed Presses - Ability to interpret and analyze technical drawings, CAD files and product and quality specifications - Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of stamping and Injection Molding with Non-Ferrous Metals from initial design to production - Capacity to identify disturbances in production and modify processes to prevent repeated occurrences quickly - Proficient in 2D Drafting software, 3D Modeling software, Microsoft Office and Project (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access, Solid Works, Pro E, and AutoCAD) - Highly skilled in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to ASME Y14.5M-1994 standards - Skilled at applying statistics to product and process improvement projects - Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage complex technical problems - Knowledgeable in performing stack-up analysis to ensure proper assembly and performance repeatability - Exceptional organizational skills - A team player with strong communication, leadership, management and interpersonal skills - Ability to present information internally and externally in a highly positive and motivating manner - Ability to prioritize and effectively manage workflow through multiple departments - Capable of taking initiative, influencing without authority, driving change and motivate self/others to exceed expectations
