Clinical Content/Template Developer: e-MDs
e-MDs, a leading developer of healthcare software solutions, is headquartered in Austin , Texas . The e-MDs Solution Series* is the standard for affordable and integrated Electronic Health Records (EHR) and practice management software solutions, including clinical, financial and document management modules designed to automate medical practice processes and chart management. Currently, e-MDs employs a staff of full-time physicians, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and programmers. Many of the professionals on our staff have a primary background in medicine, while others have significant experience in business and information technology. The company has over 16,000 current users throughout the United States . We are in the process of developing a web-based application suite to supplement our existing client server-based offerings.
Job Description This position helps to maintain and support the clinical content and clinical templates of e-MDs products. Using clinical information and experience and in collaboration with product management, clinical resources, and customers, helps to ensure the clinical content represents best practice standards and will meet requirements for different users, applications and contexts.
Job Functions/Responsibilities Duties include but not limited to: - Building and maintaining clinical documentation templates based on company needs, user requests and feedback - Applying clinical expertise and knowledge to create and update clinical content used in EHR including information related to documentation, orders, alerts and notification actions, patient education, reporting needs, billing code databases - Designing, formatting and building relevant clinical content into appropriate workflows in the EHR - Responsible for testing and documentation of the clinical content - Developing the clinical content based on national standards and accepted best clinical practices - Responding to internal and external client questions and concerns - Actively participating in sharing of knowledge and expertise with other departments such as Support, Training, QA and Development - Occasional travel may be necessary
Experience/Requirements - Minimum of 3 years experience working with clinical content - Experience creating templates for an EHR product preferred - Experience and understanding of requirements for clinical documentation, workflow and reporting in an ambulatory clinic setting - Experience with EHR systems in an ambulatory clinic setting preferred - Prior experience with update and maintenance of billing codes - Clinical certification such as RN, LVN, MA, Med Tech, Lab Tech, etc. a plus - Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills - Self-starter, resourceful and results oriented, with an attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects. - Ability to work both independently and in team environments - Working knowledge of clinical workflows - Proficiency with various software applications, including but not limited to: MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel.
