Lead Programmer/Analyst

The State University of New York (SUNY) Learning Network, located in Albany, New York, seeks applications for a Lead Programmer/Analyst. This position will be responsible for working on custom developments within the ANGEL Learning Management System application.
This position will contribute initiatives to continually improve and enhance the SUNY Learning Network web programming presence and support, in addition to contributing to the development of new processes to promote efficient web development for our ANGEL customers.
This position works closely with all SUNY Learning Network university-wide departments and staff, the Office of the Provost and interfaces with SUNY Learning Network partner campuses and outside vendors.

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with SUNY university-wide staff on configuration, maintenance, documentation, and support of hosted services in a production environment
• Collaborate with SLN Team to assist with evaluating technologies
• Participate in the integration (planning, testing and implementation) of new technologies including ANGEL updates and third-party products
• Create code to project specifications for deadlines in a collaborative, team environment
• Serve as an escalation contact for support services
• Provide high quality customer service

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution
• Experience as a web and database-driven applications developer
• Knowledge of web programming including HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Experience with server-side scripting and RDBMS technologies
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms
• Proven innovative abilities

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with online and web-enabled teaching and learning technology
• Knowledge of web development for both PC and Mac users, open source, and database design
• Experience in timeline and project management and/or implementation of business and functional requirements
• Ability to write and/or edit technical documentation
• Experience with one of more of the following:
o ASP/ASP.NET, PHP, C#, XML, Java, JSP, Oracle, SQL Server, mySQL and Structured Query Language (SQL) or equivalent
