SR. FIELD APPLICATIONS ENGINEER (RAID, STORAGE)
About the Position
We are seeking an Sr. FAE to work closely with the Product Development Teams, Product Validation Teams, Marketing Teams, & Sales Teams to provide world-class technical customer support. We provide technical support to assist in design wins, customer product ramp, & customer product production.
Position Responsibilities:
• Support, manage, maintain hardware /software for processor based storage IC’s & reference designs
• Work closely with Tier 1 OEMs to define requirements, manage deliverables & support initial bring up to full production.
• Lead technical support for RAID customers
• Travel throughout North America & internationally, as needed at customer sites to debug hardware & software
• Support of hardware/software solutions to assist with new product design wins, customer ramp to production,
• Develop verification requirements, understand architectures & HW/SW designs in order to characterize customer related problems, providing timely customer technical support & engineering feedback
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in EE, CS, or CE Masters or PhD a +
• 4+ years experience
• Strong fundamental understanding of RAID & RAID SW/FW with ability to review & modify code
• Strong software/firmware development & debug skills
• Experience with bench top equipment such as protocol analyzers/exercisers, logic analyzers, & other storage related test equipment
• Ability to travel to customer sites
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with mass storage firmware/software
• Strong system design skills (HW & SW)
• Familiarity with storage networking concepts & protocols (Fibre Channel, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, SCSI, SAS & SATA, iSCSI, PCI, PCI-Express)
• Experience with RISC based, embedded processors (MIPS preferred)
• Past work with Unix & Wintel drivers & experience in FW development with light weight embedded kernels (ThreadX, VxWorks, eCos, etc.)
• Strong debugging skills & experience with kernel (Windbg), JTAG, serial port
• Experience with board-level debug & bring-up
• Customer facing experience
• Hardware & chip development/debug skills
• Experience in the Storage Industry
• C/C++ programming skills
• TCP/IP knowledge/experience
