| Job Description Manager - Strategic Intelligence-0900226 Description Timken has adopted Managing for Value (MfV) as its foundational business process for driving growth and intrinsic value creation. The MfV process requires: a dependable, living & growing fact base; sound statistical analysis; adherence to value driven principles; a deep understanding of markets, economic environments & cycles, customers and competitors; and the ability to create innovative business models.
The Manager Strategic Intelligence will create, maintain, and statistically analyze Timken's fact base. This position will also own, drive, & appropriately train the business processes required to develop, maintain, and statistically analyze the fact base.
This position will:
- Drive the creation and maintenance of Timken's overall fact base including: the market maps; environmental cycles, trends & drivers; competitive & benchmark analyses; and Timken's relative performance.
- Own the fact base for non-current markets, products and services; and drive/support all market, environment, and competitive studies conducted outside of the current business segments.
- Coordinate all market, environment, and competitive studies conducted within the current business to insure their consistency and inclusion in the fact base.
- Assist the NBD managers in defining attractive market spaces in their business segments
- Support/facilitate the "Define Phase" teams chartered to study attractive new market spaces using the MfV process and tools.
- Lead the development of an electronic infrastructure to share all strategic intelligence with members of NBD, marketing and product management functions while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
- Lead in developing ongoing business processes, using statistically valid tools, which will be used by Timken leadership to improve marketplace understanding, opportunity assessment, and decision making.
- Drive the creation and maintenance of Timken's market roadmaps including environmental impacts, trends and drivers.
- Maintaining Timken's overall value creation portfolio
Qualifications Education Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Business Management with 20 years experience.
- MBA or Progress towards with 10 years experience.
Desired Experience:
- Certified Risk Management (Experience with statistics, options, and risk management)
- Motivated to understand market trends, industry dynamics, competitive positioning, and company financials.
- Demonstrates a disciplined approach to problem solving.
- Demonstrated ability to transform data into strategic information.
- Working understanding of statistics, options, & risk management.
- Working understanding of business financial statements (Income, Balance Sheet, & Cash Flow).
- Should have significant experience in leading cross functional teams to successful conclusions in high-pressure (time constrained) projects within Timken's market spaces.
- Experience in competitor & market analysis tools (e.g. market maps, channel maps, profit maps, VOC/VOM, etc.) and demonstrate an aptitude for accurately determining market attractiveness, unmet customer needs, competitive position, and market valuation of potential new market spaces. >5 years.
