Senior Technical Specialist- Structural/Thermal Engineering Services
CD-adapco is offering a challenging position working as a Senior Technical Specialist in our Structural/Thermal Engineering Services Group. Projects will include performing finite element analysis and fluid structure interaction studies for various companies serving the Oil and Gas, Chemical Processing and Energy Industries, running advanced simulations and analyses addressing problems with plasticity, creep and fatigue in various upstream and downstream applications, developing and maintaining successful partnerships with local companies serving the energy sector. This position will be based out of our Houston , Texas office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualifications are desired:
- Masters degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or Applied Mechanics
- Professional licensure and certification encouraged but not required.
- Experience with pressure vessels and piping engineering
- Past experience with application of advanced analysis tools in performing detailed dynamic and heat transfer analyses of complex mechanical assemblies and fluid structure interaction
The following technical knowledge is a plus:
- Familiarity with Petrochemical industry standards (ASME & API)
- Knowledge of Fitness for Service methods (FFS)
- Experience with welding processes and evaluation and NDE methods
- Proficient with both general and special purpose finite element analysis software (ABAQUS, ANSYS etc) and piping stress software like CAESAR.
- Experience with CAD packages (Solidworks, Pro-engineer, Unigraphics etc)
- Programming experience (Java, Fortran etc)
- Familiarity with CFD analyzes/software, particularly STAR products
- Thorough understanding of fatigue principles and creep life evaluation for pressure vessels.
