Head of E-Commerce Marketing: The Orvis Company, Inc.
The Head of Global E-commerce Marketing is responsible for the planning and execution of Sales and Marketing goals for www.orvis.com and www.orvis.co.uk . The person ensures that the Orvis web site delivers on brand, functionality and service that exceed our customers’ expectations.
The Orvis web site serves as a key marketing and order processing medium supporting the Consumer Direct Business. It also serves as a key marketing channel for all components of the Orvis brand and serves these groups and the customer as a central resource for information, sales and service for Retail, Wholesale and Sporting Services business groups. This key leader will bring creativity to the marketing functions so that response and conversion enhancing techniques, promotions, usability, features and functionality are well conceived, tested, measured, and implemented. Company Interfaces: The position reports to the Vice President of Multi-Channel Marketing. There are currently four direct reports and a total team of fourteen associates. This position interfaces regularly with the Executive Team, Directors of all business channels, MC Acquisition team, Divisional Merchandise Managers and Contact Center management. Key Performance Measurements: 1. US & UK Online Sales Growth 2. Traffic generation and Sales Per Visit Optimization 3. Achievement of OLM profitability goals General Responsibilities: This position will have primary responsibility for: 1. Sales planning and forecasting to meet company’s financial and operational goals. 2. Identification and implementation of best practices in the form of site functionality and business processes. 3. Development, retention and recruitment of key talent necessary to fuel success. 4. Web merchandising initiatives designed to enhance sales per visit, conversion, etc. 5. Serve as Web champion by elevating awareness, interest and understanding among key internal constituents regarding how best to leverage the web channel. 6. Customer advocate who monitors customer feedback and ensures treatment is absolutely right. 7. Reporting on business trends and providing insights and recommendations to management team on how to further maximize results across all business units. 8. Keeping abreast of the latest E-Commerce marketing systems and techniques in order to maintain the company’s competitive advantage. 9. Serve as lead interface with IS team on the development of new site capabilities, and supervision, maintenance and optimization of existing suite of technologies and features. 10. Negotiate and manage the relationships with E-commerce Marketing Vendors. 11. Maintain a broad network of industry peers that can be leveraged for key insights. 12. Participate in big picture planning for the channel and technological advancement on the horizon that organization needs to learn and embrace in order to continue growth trajectory (i.e., mobile, social media, etc.) Qualifications Required: 1. 10 years experience with a multi-channel, multi-title cataloger including at least 5 years in a senior E-commerce management role. 2. Established network of business and vendor relationships in E-commerce space. 3. College degree required. An MBA is desirable. 4. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and Web Analytics packages. 5. Proven track record in bringing a blend of creativity, business rigor and passion that drive tangible results.
