Job Description: Provide Structural Mechanical Analysis and Mechanical Design support for the design, development, and in-service engineering support of defense related mechanical products (including bomb racks, launchers and avionics systems). Primary responsibility will be to perform mechanical analysis tasks, including: developing loads criteria, finite element modeling, static stress analysis, dynamic analysis, fatigue analysis and writing deliverable analysis reports. Associated mechanical analysis tasking includes providing support for ground testing, flight testing, and flight clearance requests. Mechanical design tasks include: requirements development, CAD modeling and detailing of mechanical products, and support for integration and testing of mechanical products. Required Skills: Current in structural mechanical analysis processes, tools, techniques, modeling and simulation products. Experience with MSC Patran/Nastran mechanical analysis tools. Experience in the design of mechanical products using solid-modeling CAD tools. Ability to manage multiple, unrelated tasks in an organized manner with attention to detail and thoroughness. Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills. Ability to work well in diverse team environment and have excellent self-management and organizational skills. Overtime, weekend work and travel may be required. Desired Skills: Design experience with defense related mechanical products. Experience with ANSYS mechanical analysis tools. Experience using the PTC ProEngineer (Wildfire 3) CAD tool. Experience performing CFD and thermal analyses. Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Education Required: B.S. in engineering, science or related technical degree. Five to seven years mechanical engineering experience including mechanical design and structural analysis efforts.
