The New Business Manager must exhibit solid strategic, analytical and management skills. Our ideal candidate will use sound judgment to determine best, most relevant creative for case histories and RFP submissions, “think outside the box” for prospecting initiatives, and understand factors (tangible and intangible) that weigh in on client decisions regarding the agency selection process. The Manager must have a strong, in-depth understanding of all agency department and functions and how each works together in integrated new business pitches.

The Manager interacts with all levels of agency management and with all agency departments. He/she also acts as the key New York contact for global business development within the Lowe network. The New Business Manager must be able to maintain a positive attitude, to help motivate her coordinator and others in the agency, and help provide direction for those not familiar with the New Business process. This person must also remain flexible to adjust to changing project parameters and deadlines and incorporate direction from multiple sources. The New Business Manager must also possess confidence to express opinions and provide critical feedback on department initiatives.

Examples of key tasks are outlined below:

Pitch Preparation

  • Request, gather, research and analyze prospect intelligence data (from internet, Lowe Info Center, CMI and other sources/vendors)
  • Work with creatives, producers, and designers to create, update and execute agency credentials, new business materials, brand boards, etc..
  • Collect appropriate agency print and TV spots for the agency reel
  • Order prospective & competitive TV/print/radio
  • Work with producers, editors, A/V and creative to interview, shoot/film and edit (time coding, loading, music, etc.) videos for presentations
  • Contribute High Value Ideas to the content of pitch presentations
  • Use creativity to develop and create pitch presentations in Powerpoint with Executive Management

Budget Management

  • Assist in opening new job numbers and disseminating info to the pitch team
  • Accurately track all pitch and departmental costs by maintaining New Business Budget Binder with copies of all signed invoices by job number and logging into Department Budget Tracking spreadsheet

Miscellaneous

  • Drive the RFP process from soup to nuts (written responses, technical and mechanical aspects, power point presentations)
  • Prepare, write and execute agency submission material for new business reviews, including questionnaire responses, agency profile videos and video case studies
  • Experience in prospecting is a plus

As a member of the New Business Department and representative of the agency at-large, excellent communications skills and a high level of professionalism and comportment are required for this position.

The Manager is asked to handle multiple projects of high priority on tight deadlines and needs excellent time-management and organization skills. As with all positions within this department, flexibility and dedication with regard to working hours is required with late night and weekend work when necessary to meet presentation and project deadlines.

Additionally, the seasoned industry professionals leading the department provide opportunities for skills development and feedback to track professional growth and career management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 3-5 years relevant professional experience.
  • Show a high degree of motivation and work well both individually and in a team environment.
  • Strong Account Management and multitasking ability
  • Superior communication, negotiation and analytical skills
  • Superior presentation skills (Power Point a must, InDesign a plus)
