Serving the people of Southwestern Alaska, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Hospital is a 50-bed general acute care medical facility. Fully accredited by JCAHO, services include adult med/surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency room, as well as outpatient family medicine clinics, pharmacy, lab, and imaging.


Position Summary: The Well Child/ EPSDT Coordinator manages a complex, multi-site program. This position requires the people-skills to enroll hospital providers and Community Health Aide/Practitioners (CHA/Ps) in YKHC's vision of providing excellent preventive health services to the youth of the region. At the same time, the Well Child Coordinator must have a solid command of process design and program management that will result in program growth and quality improvement.
The Well Child Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating YKHC EPSDT/Well Child activities with village services, hospital services, participating YKHC referral departments, and other organizations. The Coordinator is responsible for EPSDT program design, development, management, quality assurance, evaluation, and reporting. She or he tracks the progress of EPSDT exams and referrals; and collects, analyzes and presents data effectively. He or she will participate within his or her scope of practice with EPSDT clinics, and will provide field supervision to CHA/Ps trained in performing EPSDT exams. The Well Child Coordinator will give presentations on the Well Child program, will assist in village, hospital and external correspondence regarding immunizations, and will ensure compliance with state and federal agencies and all contractual agreements.


Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Health Management, Public Health, Health Sciences or a combination of any Bachelor's Degree and related experience, as well as three years experience with progressive supervisory or staff management skills. Master's Degree preferred. Early Periodic Screening Diagnosis & Treatment (ESPDT)/Well Child experience preferred.

Minimum Experience: Three years experience in a health promotion/health education or related field. Six months to a year of supervisory experience. Prefer experience in the following: case management, RPMS/ database management, grant and budget management, working in a cross-cultural setting and/or rural Alaska setting, experience as a trainer or educator.

Equipment/Tools: Must have computer experience and intermediate or above skills using Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Must have at least a working knowledge of RPMS and its modules and of MS Access within 3 months of hire, and have gained intermediate level skill within 6 months.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge and experience with Pediatrics preferred. Prefer experience in case management, teaching, working in cross-cultural settings and knowledge of the Community Health Aide Program. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in English.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisory experience a plus. Will assist in direction of support staff. May direct staff in Community Health Aide Program Director's absence.
