Honesty, Trust, & Respect Teamwork & Problem Solving Leadership & Commitment Learning/Teaching - Talents, Skills and Abilities Recognition/Rewards OCSD is currently looking to fill the role of a Senior Environmental Specialist Under direction, the Sr. Environmental Specialist performs a variety of environmental studies and field work including gathering, tabulating, and analyzing data supporting the District’s Environmental Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Division. This position provides core compliance duties covering the following key areas: hazardous waste management; construction stormwater; industrial stormwater; dewatering and de minimus NPDES permits; and endangered species compliance for the Santa Ana Sucker along the Santa Ana River. This position is vital for short- and long-term compliance with regional, state and federal regulations and permits. The selected individual will be responsible for hazardous waste management, stormwater/dewatering management, and Santa Ana Sucker SARI endangered species compliance. Responsibilities include: conducting monthly assessments; supporting external program audits; maintaining the SharePoint site for various programs; reviewing OCSD’s waste minimization plan; and compliance documentation. This person will also have contractor oversight responsibilities; and will develop, conduct and participate in hazardous waste and stormwater/dewatering training. The Sr. Environmental Specialist will interface with county and city officials, regulatory agencies, OCSD staff, and contractors. Other duties include: assisting in spill response efforts, maintaining and updating standard operating procedures and plans, tracking compliance objectives, renewing de minimus permit every 5 years, conducting inspections and preparing detailed inspection reports; reviewing annual activities of the Santa Ana Sucker Task Force; participating in meetings and securing permits CLOSING DATE/TIME: 11/25/09 05:00 PM Pacific Time
