OR/SURGERY EDUCATOR (RN) - PERIOPERATIVE SERVICES
Under direction of the Director of Clinical Education and Director of Perioperative Services, the Nurse Educator will provide clinical, educational, and performance improvement leadership for personnel involved in the care of patients requiring Perioperative Services (includes Surgery, Ambulatory Surgery Services, Short Stay, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, GI Lab). Functions as a leader, practitioner, educator, consultant, and researcher.
1. Collaborates with other members of the leadership team to oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical nursing care provided to patients requiring perioperative services.
2. Coordinates competency-based orientation and ongoing staff development for healthcare team.
3. Supervises/teaches/coaches/evaluates patient care personnel as appropriate
4. Assists leaders with department/service annual goals, strategic plans, and outcome measures
5. Oversees development of policies, procedures, protocols and performance standards.
6. Collaborates to improve patient care outcomes and maximize resources.
7. Serves as a clinical expert/role model. Promotes use of scientific data and principles.
8. Serves as a change agent for positive patient care/service outcomes.
9. Plans, implements, evaluates educational opportunities for patients/community.
10. Leads/serves as a member of clinical project and quality improvement work teams.
Requirements: BSN (or degree in progress)required; MSN with CNS or Acute Care NP focus pref'd. Minimum 5 yrs recent perioperative/ surgery experience required and CV/Tele(preferred). Minimum of 3 yrs related leadership/educator exp. preferred. AHA BLS & ACLS required; BLS, ACLS Instructor preferred. Current CA RN License. AORN required. Proficient in MS Office.
