Currently, Chubb is seeking an Underwirter for the DFI Specialty department for the Pittsburgh, PA office.

Position Description:

This underwriter will be part of the $68M Pennsylvania Region Chubb Specialty Insurance team based in the Pittsburgh, PA branch office. The specific book of business will consist of both new and renewal professional liability products for both Financial Institutions and potentially Non-Financial Institution risks. Agency responsibilities will extend from Western Pennsylvania through West Virginia.

This underwriter will contribute toward achieving department goals of profit, rate, and growth. He or she is critically responsible for building relationships with producers, negotiating terms and conditions - both on renewals and on new business, developing prospects, managing rate & profitability, retention, and achieving new business goals, as well as creating business plans for the assigned territory and agents. The ability to effectively communicate is a necessity in this role. Significant agency visitation is critical as the individual will be responsible for marketing initiatives, new business production, and maintaining/building producer and client relationships throughout the territory. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

The successful candidate will demonstrate: excellent verbal and interpersonal skills and they must have the ability to work independently on specific designated task and be a team player.
Competencies/Technical Skills:

The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years underwriting professional liability product lines with their primary emphasis being on financial institution risks, but a willingness to expand their skill-set into non-financial institution accounts.

The candidate must have:
Solid analytical and financial analysis skills
Strong verbal, written communication and organizational skills
Proficiency in sales, marketing and negotiation
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Proven track record of building strong business relationships with agents and customers
Demonstrated ability to effectively produce new business, particularly in the financial institution and private commercial sector
Ability to link exposures to coverage grants in the contract is required
Effective communication with other Chubb business units for cross-selling opportunities is a necessity
Knowledge of professional lines products with an emphasis on D&O, E&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Bonds/Crime coverage.

An individual with a financial institutions professional liability background is preferred.

Education: College degree required or equivalent experience
