Position Summary: Develop, plan, manage, budget, communicate, organize, implement and monitor all key Department functions including business development activities, community relations, chamber relations and other community events.
Essential Functions:
Business Development § Establish and meet goals and work plan for Select Employer Group (SEG) development activities and monitor progress. § Establish a portfolio of prospective SEG relationships for all regions. § Manage, track and report product and service sales for department. § Regularly prospect and schedule membership drives, events and employee presentations at SEG locations and business/community events. § Develop programs, promotions and campaigns to successfully market The Redwood Group products and services to prospective SEGs and during business and community events. § Participate, sponsor and support SEG events. § Establish partnerships with organizations to facilitate distribution of the Redwood Group product and service information to their employees. § Manage SEG data processing system, codes and tracking and respond to SEG orders, requests, and phone calls. § Prospect new, targeted SEG relationships; secure partnership agreements and complete all additional steps required for new SEGs. § Initiate sales calls, visits, and mailings to existing and new SEGs. § Coordinate schedules and attendance with appropriate Redwood Group managers to attend and participate in local SEG and community events.
Chamber Relations Management§ Work closely with Branch Operations to ensure participation at local area Chambers of Commerce, and ensure proper Redwood Group contact for each Chamber. § Attend Chamber luncheons, mixers, and other networking opportunities. § Oversee and implement effective business development related advertising and marketing. § Manage, direct, organize and staff business expo events and activities. § Manage sponsorship opportunities through the local chambers of commerce and speak/present at chamber events. § Prepare, manage, monitor and report on chamber relations budget. Community Relations Management§ Prepare, manage, monitor and report on community relations budget and plan. § Plan, prospect and direct effective community relations program, including high profile events. § Establish and maintain relationships with key contacts in the community including volunteer centers and non-profit organizations. § Maintain The Redwood Groups records and contact information with current community contacts. § Manage workflow for requests of community funds and respond to requests. § Communicate to employees on The Redwood Groups sponsored events, volunteer opportunities, etc. and coordinate participation at events and ensure proper monitoring and reporting. § Develop and place ads in various community publications. Department Management§ Hire, recruit, train, conduct performance reviews, lead, develop and monitor Business Development Department staff. § Establish goals and work plans for Business Development Department staff, and monitor goals, incentive plans, and progress. § Prepare annual budget and plan for Business Development Department. § Attend and actively participate in company planning sessions, staff meetings, senior staff meetings, Wine Country Chapter meetings, and other company, community and industry forums. § Serve on and/or direct a number of committees to ensure effective interface among Business Development staff, departments and branches. § Propose to the Board of Directors new SEG requests requiring changes to the Credit Union’s Bylaws/field of membership. § Execute programs and provide assistance to projects developed by The Redwood Group’s Executives and Senior Staff.
Non-Essential Functions§ Assist Operations with internal sales promotions including communication, etc. § Assist Marketing with youth program, annual meeting and other events as needed. § Maintain organization and inventory of Business Development collateral, premiums, etc. § Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: 1 – Business Development Officer
Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities§ Thorough knowledge of the sales process and business development tactics and methods. § Thorough knowledge of financial industry products and services. § Knowledge of business and financial conditions and related economic trends. § Knowledge of management techniques and methods, including planning and budgeting. § Skill in the operation of personal computers with intranet and Internet access and other office equipment operation. § Skill in using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Power Point software. § Demonstrated event coordination skills with attention to detail. § Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills. § Excellent organizational skills. § Ability to direct, coordinate and supervise the work of others. § Ability to prepare and perform oral presentations in front of both small and large audiences. § Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. § Ability to act independently and confidentially, using discretion and tact. § Ability to analyze situations and recommend solutions. § Ability to effectively research and report data. § Ability to be highly productive while working independently. § Ability to attend morning and evening meetings and events. § Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people including SEG ambassadors, chamber of commerce, community leaders, officials, executives and other credit union employees. § Ability and desire to work in a team environment. § Ability to transport trade show booth and other on-site materials. Licenses and Certifications§ Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license. § Ability to maintain current auto insurance. Physical Requirements§ Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, turn, climb and drive. § Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds occasionally and pull and push 50 pounds occasionally. § Ability to use all modern office equipment. § Work environment is both indoors and outdoors. Travel, standing and/or sitting for long periods of time. § Some manual labor when setting up off-site booths. Education/ExperienceA combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing and sales, or closely related field. Five years progressively responsible experience in the financial services industry including credit union experience preferred with at least two years of management experience.
