Summary:

The position requires an experienced DBA/Systems Engineer with an enterprise background in MS SQL 2005/2008 Server, and ideally Microsoft qualified, who can also can act as day to day administration and management of MS SQL 2005/2008 Servers mainly on Windows 2003 platforms. This position is hands-on and is responsible for the design, support, maintenance and optimization of database systems.


Responsibilities include:

• Install and configure MS SQL 2005/2008 Server to standards and clustering, apply service packs, deliver major infrastructure changes.
• Create and maintain backup plans based on the business needs of the company, test disaster recovery scenarios.
• Upgrade databases to higher versions of the database server software in conjunction to performing application upgrade.
• Coding and fixing stored procedures, coding and fixing DTS packages, ability to review code and logs to increase SQL performance and database tuning strategies on a Windows 2003 platform for large databases.
• Manage database security.
• Install and deploy databases.
• Proactive database performance monitoring and tuning (Network connectivity, Disk space, CPU load, Memory load, etc.)
• Work with R&D to identify and resolve problems within applications in relation to database, to ensure successful release of products and updates.


Requirements:

• MS SQL Server 2005/2008 Certified
• Bachelor's degree in computer-related field or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of MS SQL Server Administration in a large NT multi-master domain environment
• 2+ years running MS SQL Server in an MS Cluster environment
• Proven ability to script solutions as well as a strong knowledge of the GUI administration tools to manage change control and monitoring of the systems
• Can independently install, setup and configure SQL Server 2005/2008
• Significant life-cycle database administration support including database design, database development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
• Strong database modeling and design skills
• Strong experience with data dictionary and database scripting, SQL development, unit testing, and systems administration on Microsoft.
• Ability to perform 7 x 24 hour support.
• Team player with excellent communication skills.
• Self motivated and ability to learn and research issues independently.
