Position Summary: Responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating YKHC Diabetes Prevention and Control program activities with village services, hospital services, and other educational organizations, as appropriate. Coordinates grant activities and reporting requirements with staff and partners. Conducts data collection and management of information systems, including quality control. Responsible for the day to day management of staff, hiring, and program success. Will also function as the Program Coordinator for the CVD/Health Hearts grant program. Provides supervision and direction to Case Managers and Data Coordinator of the program. Communicates and reports to the grant Coordinating Center as requested and keeps all grant requirements and timelines current. Monitors program budget, oversees case management activities and ensures program operates in compliance with HIPAA rules and other applicable regulations. Minimum Education: Associate Degree in nursing, pharmacy, nutrition or other related health field required. Preferred Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Public Health, Education, Nutrition, or related health field. Minimum Experience: Two years experience in a cross-cultural diabetes education required. Preferred experience in the following: supervisory and staff management, case management, RPMS/ database management, grant and budget management, working in a cross-cultural, rural Alaska setting. License, Certification, Registration: RN, RPH or RD required. Valid CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) certification required or ability to obtain within 2 yrs. Preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Equipment/Tools: Comprehensive knowledge of PC computers. Ability to operate digital projector, digital camera, and other technology as it becomes available. Work in a typical office, hospital, field and/or various community settings. Travel to villages via small plane/sub-arctic conditions, moderate lifting of equipment, occasional long working hours. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Program planning, grant writing and management, public relations, effective communication skills (oral and written), organizational skills, and ability to chair meetings and teleconferences. Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office suite software, internet, e-mail, and RPMS/ statistical/ data analysis software. Preferred bi-lingual (Yup'ik/English).
