Job Description
We seek a Development Project Manager for our IA Systems Group in our Albany (Colonie), NY office to oversee the internationalization of our Velocity software product. In this role, you must understand complex business requirements, resource management, the life cycle of system application development, and be able to build and execute multiple project plans simultaneously.
As our Development Project Manager, you will
- oversee product development from conception thru deployment
- manage multiple projects simultaneously
- deliver project status to the PMO and Senior Management on a weekly basis
- understand risk management and communicate risk when necessary
- build contingency and mitigation plans throughout the process
- ensure that a proactive response is made by the right members of the team to all - communicating project concerns, risks, and issues that arise
- complete special projects as assigned
- work with the PMO to improve project deliverables throughout the lifecycle (understand how to build requirements documents, functional and technical specification documents)
- act as the primary contact between development and Open Solutions Product Managers
- schedule, prepare and conduct weekly status meetings with key resources
- motivate and increase productivity with domestic and international teams
- manage all aspects of the installation process, making sure all installation tasks are completed on time, maintaining a high level of quality for all commitments, and communicating effectively to all involved
- facilitate communications between all parties involved in the process through the regular distribution of detailed status reports
- review and obtain all necessary sign-off documents from Open Solutions and our client
- maintain a budget and ensure that expenses are reasonable.
Required Skills
To qualify for this position, you must have:
- a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- at least five to seven years of experience in software project management
- strong written and verbal communication, leadership, and project-coordination skills
- skills proficiency in MS office (Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Outlook and Access)
- strong Internet and SQL skills
- the talent and capability to function in a project coordinator/account representative/operations analyst role in a high-visibility, fast-paced environment
- strong multi-tasking skills
- an excellent understanding of banking business functions, including short- and long-term accounting and banking strategies (a plus)
- an understanding of Microsoft Solutions Framework, PMP certification, or other related knowledge of quality management programs (a plus)
- an understanding of multilingual, localization of applications (a large plus)
- the ability to travel internationally -- to 50 percent.
