PROJECT MANAGER, R&D

The Project Manager, R&D will oversee and guide new products and design changes from conception to production.

Position Summary:

The Project Manger, R&D has the ultimate R&D responsibility for assigned new product/design change project management. The position manages projects from concept stage to production and ensures timeliness of product launches. This position will establish goals to meet project objectives. The position will communicate with physicians and Micrus resources to develop concepts and/or prototypes for the medical device market.

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

• Gathers project inputs from key members and ensures inputs are current
• Mentors project managers, project leaders, and engineers
• Develops concepts, designs, and prototypes of devices, drawing on internal and outside technical expertise
• Establishes a timeline for each project and coordinates and plans project activities, including budgeting and scheduling of projects that are complex in nature
• Interfaces with other departments regarding product review and planning and ability to gain cooperation of others
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Materials Engineering or Plastic Engineering or equivalent
• More than ten years successful design/product development experience, preferably in a medical device environment
• More than eight years in a project management position
• Product development experience in interventional neuroradiology/cardiology is a definite plus
• Proven track record of bringing successful products to the market quickly
• Excellent communication skills, strong leader and influencer
• Position may travel up to 25% of the time
