Summary: Under Direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to provide excellent customer service and assistance to patients and customers. Employees will perform sales and customer service work, by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. v Job Specific Standards Ø Sales/Customer Service § Greets all patients and customers as they enter store. § Determines client's current lens prescription, when necessary, using lensometer or lens analyzer and client's eyeglasses. § Check all completed eyewear for quality and accuracy of prescription. § Oversee the dispensing of all eyewear, both contact lenses and glasses § Recommends specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit client needs. § Informs patients and customers of promotional items. § Attain sales goals established by management team. § Assist patients and customers with choice of frames: choose eyewear to best fit their budgetary requirements, dispense and adjust frames to ensure proper fit and patient satisfaction in applicable sates. § Measures client's bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes. § Help resolve customer complaint, diffuse unsatisfied patients and provide solution to remedy situation. § Troubleshoot and identify problems related to prescription. § Complete inventory count and replenish stock as necessary. § Complies with all company and local policies and procedures to include but not limited to, employment policies and procedure, no walk out policy, etc. § Heats, shapes, or bends plastic or metal frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit client. § Makes minor repairs to eyewear. § Instructs clients in adapting to, wearing, and caring for eyeglasses. Ø Safety/ Environment § Adheres consistently to OSHA and other safety requirements. § Adheres to quality control standards. v Company Standards Ø Communication & Relationships § Tailors vocabulary and voice tone to the needs of the situation § Communicates in a problem solving manner rather than in a blaming mode. § Demonstrates both active listening skills and articulate speaking skills. § Handles issues directly with relevant persons; does not involve others in a way which escalates conflict. § Values and supports diversity. Ø Effective Work Habits § Carries out the job role in an organized manner with thorough follow up. § Demonstrates initiative and flexibility in carrying out job responsibilities. § Follows safety policies and procedures and teaches others. § Maintains professional composure and productivity under pressure. § Adheres to punctuality and attendance standards in a way that serves as role model to others. Ø Ethics and Integrity § Does the right thing consistently whether observed or not. § Adheres consistently to company ethics and confidentiality policies and procedures. § Adheres consistently to all state and federal laws and regulations. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Certificates and Licenses: Must have a current Opticianry License, which includes ABO, NCLE and a state license where a board of opticians requires additional licensing in their respective state that the store is located. It is the optician’s responsibility to keep his or her license current and need to inform the company if the status changes.
