Watchfire Signs is seeking an independent, hands-on Software Engineer who can both see the big picture and drill down into exceptional detail to join our IT team that develops in-house applications.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance Windows applications written in ASP.net, SQL server and C# for internal staff tools used throughout the US.
- Utilize your process-oriented experience to plan production deployment, tune database performance, create and improve documentation, recommend new tools and tackle revamping existing tools to meet the ever-changing business needs of a rapidly growing company.
- Research enduser needs and analyze complex requirements.
- Recommend and implement appropriate systems and modifications and particularly integration between existing programs.
- Write programs that optimally integrate with existing or proposed database structures.
- Design, code, test, debug and maintain developed and new applications using best practices and including proper documentation.
- Provide interface to applications that best meets the needs of the user.
- Collaborate with other personnel in defining the needs of the organization to accomplish projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- Bachelors in Computer Science or related field, or military equivalent or equivalent work experience;
- full authorization to work in the US -- sorry, no OPT/CPT/H1B visa candidates accepted for this position;
- No preference for prior industry.
Strongly prefer: If you have any of these skills, be sure to highlight them in your cover letter, as these strengths would likely help a new hire hit the ground running.
- 2+ years proven SQL experience in creating, manipulating and tuning databases, not just manipulating data, is strongly preferred.
- Strongly prefer 2+ years recent work experience writing in ASP, .net.
- Strongly prefer 2+ years recent work experience creating windows applications.
- Strongly prefer proven strength with crystal reports and data analysis.
- "Real world" production software experience is a plus.
The ideal candidate will have these skills:
- Database
SQL Server 2000/05 development and backend relational database experience Experience in business data mapping Experience in Database design and tuning Ability to create, maintain and perform tuning procedures in a SQL Server database environment
- Web Technologies: VB & ASP.Net development (Web technologies oriented)
Visual Studio experience
- Software Engineering
Familiar with Development methodologies and processes Must have functional experience working with end users/management to define project requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Other (Plusses)
Experience with any ERP configuration and functional knowledge is a Plus Background in manufacturing, finance, or accounting is a plus BS degree in computer related field
