Job Description:
This position is for researching aged accounts payable accounts, determining whether the amounts carried on the books as a payable and obligation of funds are still a legal obligation, or whether the funds can be de-obligated and the payable removed from the accounting records. Although fully developed database skills are not a requirement for this position, candidates must demonstrate an aptitude toward data mining and analysis. It involves the retrieval and research of documents and information from multiple databases to reconcile transactions and the documentation of report root causes and findings, which are reported on a weekly basis along with the status of mined and cleared data.
The skills required consist of reconciliations involving knowledge of Microsoft Office, to include Access and Excel and an ability to convert documents to Adobe. Required is knowledge of SQL Server and other database applications. A strong ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills is a must. Excellent client service skills and strong oral and written communication skills are very important. The successful candidate will be a self starter able to work independently and capable of proactively seek out new ways of looking at findings. The candidate needs to possess an understanding of government financial management policies and procedures (to include familiarity with the Defense Financial Acquisition Regulation (DFAR) and Defense Financial Management Regulation (DoDFMR) Guidance). He/she must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks and possess strong project management skills. Strong interpersonal skills are highly desirable as the candidate will need to be able to adapt to changing client needs in a dynamic environment. Excellent oral and writing skills are a must for this position. A proficiency in Microsoft Access is required with an ability to research issues/questions and identify root causes. An understanding of financial transactions in the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Business Cycle is a plus.Education and Experience:
