About the Opportunity The Pharmacy Technician Lead provides technical and customer service support to the pharmacist. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician Lead processes new orders to maintain patient active medication profiles, issues drug doses to nurses, fills unit dose cassettes and automated dispensing machines, packages and compounds patient doses and maintains drug inventories. The Pharmacy Technician Lead is able to function in most areas of the department and can deal with complex physician orders and troubleshoot system problems that may arise. The Pharmacy Technician Lead is responsible for technician scheduling and training of new staff. Must possess a valid Pharmacy Technician certificate issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Must have 2 years of hospital pharmacy inpatient experience and have successfully completed a recognized pharmacy technician training program. Knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology, weights and measures and pharmacy math is also required. *Must have the ability to stand up for up to 8 hours a day, type at least 30 WPM with accuracy, effectively communicate with coworkers and health care workers, lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop and reach above and below shoulder level, and push/pull carts.
