Statement of Function:
This individual is responsible for the design of rubber compounds used in pneumatic tires.

Principle duties (not all inclusive):
- Write specifications, formulations and/or material consignees for rubber compounds.
- Identify, research and develop new materials or processes that can improve performance, cost, and/or quality of the tire.
- Provide technical support for materials to tire manufacturing plants. Provide materials solutions to enhance the productivity of materials processing and tire building.
- Lead projects for new materials development.
- Develop raw materials and compound strategies that suppport the tire performance and industrial goals.
- Identify new material and process technology needs for future developments.
- Establish effective networks with Michelin R&D groups located in Europe, Asia, and other zones.
- Serve as instructor of courses on raw materials, rubber compound formulation and rubber processing.

Requirements:
- BS, MS, or PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Good problem solving skills

- Good teamwork and interpersonal skills, good communication and facilitation skills.
- Passionate, positive and well-rounded.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications
- Must be willing to travel (domestic and international).
