Department OverviewBARX is Barclays Capital’s award-winning electronic trading and services platform. Through BARX, Barclays Capital provides clients with execution tools and analytics for the global Equities, Emerging Markets, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, Futures, Commodities, Money Markets and Structured Products markets. The BARX Sales team sits within the firm’s broader Sales Team (Distribution) and is responsible for the direct sales, marketing and growth of the firm’s e-business across asset classes. Growing the number of clients trading electronically and further monetizing the existing 50K users across the corporate, real-money, hedge fund and bank space is a key focus. Main Duties - Drive the build-out of the electronic futures business in the US through execution of a focused new client acquisition drive, and by effective relationship management of existing electronic futures & options relationships
- Operate as an integrated extension of the product Futures Execution Sales desk, leveraging that desk and its relationships to maximize penetration of the electronic offering in the US across client types
- Develop close working relationships by 'working the floor' in all areas of the US Sales and Trading teams. Specifically in the equities space, work with not only with the Electronic Equities sales team but also Single Stock Sales Trading, Program Sales Trading, Equity Derivatives Sales, and Research Sales; leverage these relationships to identify and pursue electronic futures & options leads.
- Work in an integrated fashion with the other members of the BARX Futures Sales team in the US -- i.e., those focused on fixed income futures and/or equity futures -- to ensure optimal electronic futures penetration across the fixed income and equities areas; in addition, work with BARX Futures Sales teams in other regions to ensure global penetration on accounts with presence across regions
- Capitalize on cross-sales opportunities within the electronic space across all asset classes by developing strong relationships with teammates in BARX Sales across asset classes
- Collaborate with Head of Electronic Futures Product (George Austin) to define and execute the optimal product strategy for equity futures & options and/or fixed income electronic trading, leveraging proprietary channels (BARX, RealTick), FIX Protocol, and third-party vendor platforms
- Collaborate with Head of BARX Marketing (Helena Rowe) on to execute an effective branding and marketing agenda for BARX Futures among the fixed income or equities and equity futures & options client base
Job Requirements - Experience and proven track record of sales success in electronic trading space
- Strong futures product knowledge; preferably equities product knowledge or fixed income product knowledge
- For fixed income or equity futures, understanding of fixed income or equities client trading operations and how futures & options fit into affixed income or equity trading desk operation / workflow
- Understanding of futures and equities electronic trading functionality and what different types of clients value in a platform; preferably knowledge of specific vendor platforms in the space
- Understanding of FIX Protocol and ability to sell FIX effectively to both real money clients requiring FIX integration with OMS / EMS environments, as well as to more systematic accounts
- Preferably 3yrs or more in the product space.
