Our client – a global supplier of equipment & systems for the power generation, Transmission & distribution industry. Excellent pay rate & $140 per diem for personal expenses.

Job Posting – 1201

Job Title: Contract – Electrical Substation - Protection Engineer.

Location: Raleigh , NC Travel: 20%

Relocation: Local candidates only or those who can interview and relocate on their own. Some Relocation assistance will be given.


Pay Rate: $35 - $50 per hour plus personal living expenses per diem of around $140/day.

Duration: 6 months initially. Will be extended to 1-2 years based on performance and company needs.

Note 1: If candidate is technically qualified we can pay legal expenses for H1B visa transfer or work on C2C basis with existing H1 holding co.

Note 2: Client is flexible to hire as a contractor and then convert to permanent role or directly hire on a permanent role.

Note 3: Candidates with relevant experience in their prior career at overseas location will also be considered.

Group Info: Be a part of the energy automation business unit in power distribution group.

Job Description:

· The Raleigh , NC facility is looking for a Protection Engineer to support the client’s customers in the design and development of protective relay systems and applications that incorporate client’s protective relay products.

· Develop new application solutions with IEC61850. Technical support and troubleshooting on protection relays questions. Provide protective relay product training.

· Development of protection applications and schemes

· Interface with customers, including trouble shooting and commissioning support

· Provide technical back-office support for the sales/proposal organization

· Technical customer presentation on relays

· Technical customer support on client’s protection relays

· Train regional salespersons in relay products and applications

· Conduct training classes on protection relays

Must Have:

· BS degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant field.

· Min 2 years full time experience in power substation protection field.

· Technical knowledge of numerical protection relays and applications

· Development of Protection Schemes and Logic Diagrams based on Technical Drawings

· Solid knowledge on at least one of the following vendor's relay products and associated software packages: /GE/SEL/ Siemens/ABB

· Prior experience inside the power industry

· Adept with Microsoft Office Application.

Nice to have:

* C Programming Language experience

* Drafting abilities using AutoCAD

* Microsoft Project

* Project Execution experience

* Team Lead/Project Lead experience

* Network Design/Configuration

* Panel Design and Test
