We have an opening for a part-time Literacy Consultant in Newark, NJ to start in January 2010. Must be a certified teacher who has strong experience with Reading Workshop and Writing Workshop. We are looking for someone who has K-5th grade experience or is very compentent to coach in this range of grades. This is a great part-time opportunity to participate in the professional staff development of elementary school teachers in the use of CLI’s Comprehensive Balanced Literacy concepts. If you enjoy modeling, observing and coaching teachers in the application of innovative and effective literacy strategies, techniques and programs then consider this opportunity. CLI Literacy Consultants guide teachers in setting up child centered, literacy rich classroom environments; Identify grade level learning objectives; Make recommendations to teachers on content development and classroom management; and Observe, model, co-teach and plan with teachers on effective lessons utilizing CLI’s “Best Practice” comprehensive literacy strategies and methodologies in the classroom.

As a member of our collegial team of educational professionals, you share ideas on enriching children’s learning experiences and creating enthusiasm for literacy as the building block for learning throughout their lifetime. CLI provides an excellent training program including an initial orientation and "Developing the Professional Developer" Institute followed up throughout the school year with workshops, seminars and regional meetings. Institutes and training are held in CLI’s state-of-the-art Conference Center at headquarters in center city Philadelphia , Pennsylvania .

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

~ Master's Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education or Reading

~ Teacher Certification

~ At least 4 years teaching experience in K to 5th grade classrooms

~ Application of core/advanced Comprehensive Balanced Literacy concepts in K to 5th grade classrooms

~ Training and Experience in Reading Workshop and Writing Workshop

~ Ability to conduct and deliver effective, professional development workshops and presentations

~ Strong interpersonal skills

~ Reliable transportation

~ Desire to make a difference

HOURS

Part-time, flexible, DAYTIME SCHOOL HOURS.
