Principal Software Engineer - Avamar Louisville, CO

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer in our Louisville, Colorado facility, to join a team that is developing high availability, multi-platform, storage-related software products. We are looking for hands-on, talented, innovative, and practical individuals with experience to design, implement and support products and product components on a predictable schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize and prototype UI models for review and usability testing


• Design, implement, document, test and debug major software solutions


• Analyze and fix complex software problems


• Participate in unit testing and support product testing and certification.


• Interpret (and may author) technical documents including design specifications, functional specifications, detailed design documents and theory of operations manuals.


• Work with Technical Publications to provide information needed by technical writers in the development of user manuals and guides.

Skills

• Experience with Software development lifecycle


• Experience in developing standalone and client-server Applications using Java Swing, and Web based clients using Java Web technologies such as JSF and AJAX.


• Comfortable with core Java language features,


• Experience with implementing software in a variety of operating environments (UNIX, Linux and Windows).


• Strong Java programming skills


• Experience with Java Threading and Synchronization


• Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and ability to work with geographically dispersed team


• Must be a team player


• Knowledge of a variety of development tools including Perforce and Ant Experience with RMI, JDBC, and XML is highly desirable.

Education

• BSCS/BSSE/MS or equivalent experience


• Minimum 8+ years of software engineering experience


• Should have strong debugging and problem solving skills
