The Manager - Category Management - Automotive Aftermarket has direct responsibility for leading the category management process - specifically the development and execution of the research and system tools associated with the process and driving customer category performance. The individual in this position will drive the Automotive Aftermarket's global cataloging efforts in the chosen manufactured and buy/brand/sell products. Other areas of responsibility woudl be, leading our efforts in providing best in industry electronic and printed catalog/product data to e-catalog/pricing companies, customers and internally and driving all category management and cataloging initiatives to ensure targeted financial results for minimizing cost, optimizing growth, profitability and market share.Being capable of self direction and motivation in an environment that encourages collaborative interaction with the product, cataloging, supply chain as well as the rest of the marketing team.
Additionally, the Manager - Cateogory Management will further develop the company's category management skill sets, implementing effective Category Management (CM) tactics by:
*Developing/documenting the processes responsible for the analytical tools necessary in the CM business process.
*Training key sales and marketing team members in use of the business process and tools.
*Leading IT teams as the subject matter expert in developing and maintaining CM data warehouse and reporting systems, developing new or improved system tools when there is a business case for doing so.
*Sourcing and negotiating all syndicated data for use in the CM business process and taking primary responsibility of consumer and market research.
*Demonstrating in actions and results the building of category management data into the global cataloging function a focus on lifecycle, registration and replacement data that will drive down costs for Timken and customers.
*Developing of a comprehensive cataloging data plan/strategy addressing basic application and product data gathering reducing costs and increasing efficiency through accurate catalogs, efficient production processes and new technology.
*Designing meaningful reporting on consumer preferences, profiles and trends addressing issues relative to customers that demonstrate the delivery of key performance indicators.
*Working with key account/market associates to assess customer's category performance. Uses customer's defined process if available or Timken process as default.
*Employee development - timely coaching, reviews and development plans for direct reports.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in business or a technical field such as market research, marketing with 8-10 years of related work experience. An MBA is preferred, but not required. Category management experience with AAP certification is preferred.
