Senior DataBase Architect/Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Database Architect with extensive experience in database design, data modeling, and data architect in OLTP and data warehousing, preferably in a Saas model/environment. The Database Architect is responsible for the development, test, rollout, and support of our database system. You will work as an integral part of our architecture team, being the “go-to” person for database design, data modeling, database security, performance, and tuning.

Responsibilities

· Work with the architecture team and engineering team to oversee the design of critical areas of the application data model throughout the entire SDLC lifecycle

· Provide support and mentorship to engineers in all aspects of logical database design, creating and tuning queries, etc

· Work with Network Operations, the architecture team, the application performance team, and the engineering team to identify and correct performance and scalability problems in development, staging, and production databases

· Perform database infrastructure design, refactoring, data validation, application updates, and troubleshooting as required

· Review and recommend and enforce database best practices and standards for engineering team

· Lead and participate in database design reviews

· Review and recommend emerging database and web technologies

· Assist in the mentoring and coaching of less senior level database team members

· Actively gather statistics from production databases to increase efficiency, improve reliability, and minimize operating expenses

Qualifications

· Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience; MS is a plus

· Minimum 8 years of technical experience in an Oracle 8i/9i/10g/11g environment

· Minimum 8 years of experience in database design/architecture, data modeling, security, performance, scalability, and tuning

· Minimum 3 years of experience as a senior level database architect

· DBA experience in an Oracle environment highly desirable

· Programming experience with Java/J2EE and web technologies a plus
